Generalized Anxiety Disorder?

I am not sure of a generalized anxiety disorder or not. I had chronic insomnia for over 10 years. I could not turn off my brain during the night. Even if I manage to fall asleep, only 6-7 hours sleep, and I am very tired in the morning. (I usually need nine hours of solid sleep each night to function properly the next day.) But, if I go to bed (at or near bedtime) did lie down and rest (eg, before taking a bath), with no intention of sleeping in reality, I'd fall asleep very quickly. [Strange, I do not know.] I had this problem 10 years ago, when I started have feelings of: (i) despair, (ii) loneliness, (iii) anxiety, (Iv) the lack of energy, desire, etc. I now take Remeron, and do not sleep problem. But obviously does not want to take forever. My questions are: (a) What my problem is? and (b) is the cognitive-behavioral best answer] [my problem?

Sounds like you have a combo GAD-depression (Not quite the offer of two for one they were looking, eh?) A couple of things can happen: the lack of sleep may be the cause of anxiety and a feeling of despair (because, as I'm sure you know, not getting enough sleep can really do anything), or anxiety and despair can cause your insomnia. I recommend going to the doctor (your family doctor is very good) and say what happened. He or she may take the Remeron and put on an antidepressant / anti-anxiety med like Lexapro, which allows both symptoms. Of course, the catch 22 in this is some of these medications can cause insomnia, so your doctor may prescribe a mild sedative to sleep. Regarding therapy Cognitive-behavioral, I'm not sure how it would be useful. Instead, your doctor may recommend psychotherapy to help cope with these feelings. Anyway, be sure to talk with her first and get their opinion on the whole – the situation and be very frank with what is happening. doc advice: if you do end up taking another drug that causes insomnia, try taking a melatonin supplement rather than a prescription sleep aid. Located in the driveway of a supplement to any pharmacy. They come in 3 mg and 5mg. Also, do not interfere with other drugs you take, and that melatonin is already produced in the brain. It's really a difference for me:) Hope this helps and good luck!
