For VETERINARIANS/DOG EXPERTS: Is it possible/alright to have dogs fangs extracted?

I am a guardian of 3 dogs, 2 local & 1 american pit bull terrier, first 2 are adults & the pit bull is a 3-month old puppy. As we all know, when it comes to this latter breed, many are againts of it. I have done several research about them (before i got one) & fell inlove with them. Now, my concern is that my mother & our elderly neighbors keep on telling me that I must be very careful & watchful of the pit bull, that it’s my responsibility just in case it bit someone, they say that it is vicious, etc. It saddens me. I know im accountable, but Im getting tired of explaining.

Recently, this news came out: Pit Bull attacked a boy & his grandma, the grandma died. They panicked even more! I just asked her, do they publish if a local, labrador or chihuahua “attacks” someone? My mother’s suggestion is, what if we have its fangs extracted when he’s changed his permanent teeth? I said, ok, that I’ll ask my vet.

Most dogs don’t bite with their “fangs” they are used to hold prey. NO it is not alright to have them removed and it wouldn’t help anyway. If you are afraid of the dog just don’t keep it. Pit bulls are no different than any other dog. Its all in the training! What really scares me is if you are asking this question you shouldn’t own that breed. Every animal comes with responsibility and the general rule is
” If it has teeth, it can bite” Years ago the rotts, shepherds and dobies were labeled much like the pit is today. Funny, you don’t hear about them so much anymore?
