Panic attacks, anxiety and anger: The dynamics of Defense
I would like to discuss the role of anger in the generation and maintenance of panic attacks and anxiety. To give the issue deserves, I decided to present the information in both parties. In this issue, first, let's review what anger is eyes psychoanalysts and cognitive psychologists. And in the second half, we will have more closely at how anger affects directly the panic and anxiety. Well, are you ready? Go to work.
The French psychiatrist Jacques Lacan, one of the pioneers of the 20th century of psychoanalysis, which would be generated aggression as a defense against psychological violence threat of something known as fragmentation, mental and emotional sense of losing control of self-cohesion. However, fragmentation can occur in a anguish of low grade, or it may manifest itself in a state of total panic and terror, for fear of total annihilation. Lacan took the whole child where a human being is simply a mish-mash of biological functions beyond the internal management. And the only aim we have been able to at least make an effort to get everything in some semblance of coherent identity.
But, Lacan believes that any cohesion reached or all of the personality its only a matter of appearances, just a facade designed to mask a vulnerability and an innate weakness. However, when a force represents an external threat that the person who revealed the truth sad and frightening potential increasingly imminent fragment, it raises defense the most natural and available, the concealment of its inherent fragility. And this is done by the immediate presentation of the illusion that much power at your fingertips too. Well, it's supposed to assault, has repeatedly expressed anger and received.
However, according psychoanalysts, regression is a defense mechanism created by the ego, the mediator between our primary readers (ID) and our social conscience (the superego), forces an individual to initiate coping strategies healthy and mature in the face of intense inner suffering. Instead of using strategies management appropriate to the age, the individual chooses unconsciously re-model thinking, emotions and behavior of a development phase psychosexual became fixed. However, this parameter can take time from birth to adolescence. And the scene of general reversal in which some major unresolved conflicts or trauma occurred. Indeed, the psychosexual stages of Freud appointed oral, anal, phallic, latency and genital.
You know, it is interesting, it is possible for an individual can be hung unconscious from the pain and anger in a misguided attempt to reconnect with the person who inflicted the injuries and trauma generated during a stage of development where it is obsessed. And this happens in a futile effort to reach a coat and meaning of healing. Indeed, despite the regression and the pitfalls of creating of the individual within the walls of intense suffering, at least you approach the crime scene, and the author (s). And being at least roughly equivalent to having a chance for resolution. Something this contact with you?
Although not as detailed, I would mention at least the cognitive perspective in relation to anger. Cognitive psychologists who claim that anger is an incredibly powerful emotion based on a real or perceived. They say that the anger of the presence in our lives can be generated by a combination of genetics, experience life, limited competition, conflict management, and a learned behavior. And he said, suggesting that the majority of people who are guilty of anger and other situations, for all these emotions, instead of taking responsibility for their wrong expectations. In fact, if the facts at hand does not match perception and expectation of things should be, boom, all hell breaks loose.
As psychoanalysts, cognitive psychologists like remember that anger is a powerful defense mechanism that protects us from a variety of rescue situations that is considered necessary, its power and energy to help both the physical and emotional survival. From you can be a good thing, but the downside is when Anger becomes horribly mismanaged and taken beyond the limits of biologically and psychologically. Then, it becomes very dangerous.
Well is a commercial for the first half. Fortunately, I have a base of Nice and we expect the final part two, and the discussion of how anger directly affects the panic and anxiety.
