How common are problems in bichon frise dogs?

On this website http://www.yourpurebredpuppy.com/reviews/bichonfrise.html

it says that bichon frise dogs could get separation anxiety, and chronic skin problems

hmm, is this common in this type of dog?
answers please :)

Pretty common.

First of all, keep in mind that the function of the Bichon Frise is that of companion. Like Border Collies are meant to herd, like hounds are meant to sniff, Bichons are meant to keep you company. So it makes sense that they’d typically suffer from separation anxiety, right? They love being with their humans. If well-bred (meaning that the quality breeder never uses breeding stock with temperamental problems like anxiety, timidity, etc.) and well-raised (meaning that you have socialized and trained extensively right from the beginning, and worked hard on teaching the puppy some degree of independence and trust that you’ll return), your Bichon Frise should be able to be left alone with problem for several hours at a time. Crate training the puppy would be a very good idea:

Here are a few pages about Bichon Frise temperament and health:

Again, to reiterate: problems like anxiety and health issues can best be avoided by purchasing from a very high quality breeder, and by raising the puppy in a stable, experienced environment with a healthy diet.
