Are panic / anxiety attacks genetic or environmental?

Symptoms: paranoia, agitation, breathlessness, tachycardia, rapid pulse, agitation, difficulty concentrating and / or think clearly. I had these episodes for years, but much worse at menopause departure. I am on Paxil, and now is much better, but I wonder why I am a victim of that. All others with similar experiences or answers?
