How to avoid becoming a victim of anxiety and depression

When you really look closely Anxiety, depression, fear, anger, stress, almost always find recurring patterns of negative thoughts, traumatic memories and reactions common emotional. They are our tormentors, insect pests that bother us, bite during the day. They ambush our conscience, we pull down and a source of Stress and emotional distress. They come unbidden, and the havoc we would go. If only we could control them, would certainly better chance to control our mental state. So how are we doing this? The practice of mindfulness meditation and Mindfulness can provide a way forward.

The first step in the practice of mindfulness, and one that can make all the difference, is totally and completely understand that you are NOT YOU THINK. The thoughts, feelings, indeed all mental content arises simply packaging products; You're much more than that. He is like the sea and fish that swim in the ocean. The ocean is not the same as the fish that live there, and you can not assimilated to the content. The essence of the ocean is like space containing these matters, not the content. The same thing applies to the mind. Gasoline the mind is like a bowl experience, the area in which mental objects, thoughts, emotions, beliefs, perceptions and memories can be. Knowing that they are much more their thoughts and emotions, then you are on track to win their freedom and independence pesky issue of stress and suffering. At the end of the day you have the simple choice to make: Will you be the ocean in all its vastness and glory, or if you want to be a fish, flying around in a state of nervousness and fear? Learning to be, the ocean is a wise decision, and it is some something that can be achieved through the practice of mindfulness.

The trick is to learn to see objects as mental objects just as are not they come forward, their dance and then disappear. This concern and how we usually react? We have tended ambushed by the excitement and emotion we become. We become an anxiety-fish! Fear arises and seduces us into fear, fear of fish. anger ascends and we're angry fish. There is no choice, no freedom, great suffering.

With the practice of mindfulness, we begin to be aware and be more committed to what happens in our minds. Mindfulness helps us to give this cycle of emotional reactivity normal. Instead of blindly accepting our impulse to feel anxiety, fear of becoming a fish, learn to participate actively these reactions. When anxious thoughts arise, we respond with an "I I, wishful thinking. I welcome you I'll make a space for you to your dance, I will listen with care and attention … but I do not believe it. "You can hear compliments every emotion, every negative thought, as a visitor who is here to stay for some time, as visitors to your home. Invite them in, offered tea and sit with them for a while. You not like their visitors, but you know the importance of being polite, courteous and hospitable.

You can not get rid of negative emotions, depression and fear by force, which is our usual response. Do not want to feel our anger or fear, we want to resolve this does not bother us. But here's the thing. You can not. Why not? Because he has created. It's like asking a wolf in sheep from a farmer. A system that is broken can be fixed.

What is needed is something altogether more creative, and is the second stage of care practice: active turn their work and suffering in the creation of a secure relationship with their fish. If you remember, who are by definition not be responsive. The effect of this is to create a space around the emotion. The more aware than you are, the more space. The freedom of the space, etc.. Freedom of what? Freedom from the clutches of negative emotions, of thought or belief. There is a Zen proverb: What is the best way to control a bull? Answer: Put them in a large field. While there is much space then the raging bull or anxiety, pain, trauma or depression can not hurt. In addition, what is equally important is that the bull can not hurt. This is very important, because both need space to heal.

Mindfulness creates a therapeutic space in which emotional knots can move to relax, unwind, soften and become workable. And, more remarkable, if you create a lot of space about their suffering, suffering has a chance to transform and heal. This is not what you are doing that as important as the creation of this transformation and the space therapy can change the emotions of the interior.

In my work as a psychotherapist, never cease to be surprised by the effectiveness of care can be used properly. The timing of a customer stops and turns to flee their suffering with goodness, the presence of care and committed, things begin to change in a beneficial way. The healing comes as the relationship we have with our pain. He does not try to fix things, try to replace negative thoughts with positive thoughts – it's all about the scene. With the sound quality on the basis of genuine openness and gentleness, the relationship of attention, the solutions appear naturally.
